I have been thinking for sometime that I might close down Christian Bloggers. At first, I thought I might just shut down some of its features. It is a lot of work and I am the only person doing it ... and I don't have all the time it takes. That would make it a lot easier to add people and then it wouldn't be such a chore at times.
But then ... that wouldn't solve one of the issues that really bothers me.
We have members who believe things that are not biblical. I am not talking secondary theology here either. I am talking about issues of sin, the deity of Christ, political extremism on both sides, etc. And, the more I look at these issues, the more I realize that people could be led astray and think that just because someone who claims they are a "Christian" said something, that it is true.
We have a great responsibility as followers of Christ. People look at what we say. They look at our behavior. They expect truth from us. And, we don't always live up to those expectations. Some of us are deceived. Some of us are practicing idolatry and are worshiping a god we have created in our own minds, not the God of the Bible. We don't like some of what He says and does, so we change things to fit the way we want them to be.
So, I am still considering closing the blogroll. I don't have the time to go through the blogroll and remove everyone that I don't think is teaching biblical principles and I wouldn't want that responsibility in the first place.
All I can do is pray about this. I will let you know what my decision is.

So I will share my verses so that you can get strengh and discernment for the choices you need to make.

Don't close down this Christian Blog. In the blogging world we need to represent as Christians and reach to other people in this nations or in the world. We are going through a difficult times in this nation. We are to all to go each nations and preach gospel. We are all not perfect and all come from different backgrounds. We are all taught different but the number one thing is reach the lost with Jesus Christ. I used to be like you looking at others lives and sin the that occurs but we need to look at ourselves and die to ourselves each day to reach to others of Christ. Be Blessed.
Hi Angel,
I share your pain. I have looked at some of the blogs on the list and seen judgemental attitudes, political hatred, and just plain insinsitivity to any opinion outside of the blogger's opinion.
I have thought on more than one occassion about taking the blogroll off of my blog because I didn't want it to look like I was endorsing those negative attitudes. But for every not so posititve blog, there are some very good blogs that can help people. Perhaps you can keep the blogroll, but allow the individual bloggers to choose the blogs that they want to highlight. You could also pull postings from member blogs and paste them on this blog. That would eliminate you having to come up with a message all the time; and it would allow you to control the content of what your original vision for this blog was and is now.
Peace and Love,
Mike Thompson from alltheezthngz.blogspot.com
Hi Angel,
I appreciate your struggle and will join in the prayers to help you decide what to do.
We are told to represent Christ, but if our blogs are presenting false doctrine, this is dangerous to ourselves and other believers! (2 Corinthians 11:4, 2 John 7-11) The Scriptures warn us about deceiving and being deceived; if we claim to represent Christ, we must be very careful to represent Him as He told us to by constantly reading the Scriptures and asking the Spirit of God to lead us into all truth and help us to recognize false teaching in others and ourselves (John 16:13). Angel, if you believe any of us are presenting a "gospel" constrary to the True Gospel, I understand you being concerned about supporting our blogs (2 John 10-11).
I'll be praying for you as you make this decision and for all of us that the Holy Spirit draws us to search for the truth and helps us find it.
And by the way, I don't get very many comments on my blog, but I would like my brothers and sisters to help me see if I am being deceived or deceiving anyone in any way, so if you've noticed anything, please feel free to share it.
Ruth
I am Franklin Li a Baptist and I can see your concern. Yes. It will be very hard for you to make the right decisions. I even had to remove the blogroll as of that time. If you can give me a good list of blogs that you appreciate (view my profile for my email) I will link them to my blog. Please do try to read my blog.
I have a fairly lengthy blogroll on my own blog and I feel a sense of responsibility to my readers to stay on top of it. I can't possibly know how writer stands on every doctrine, but when I feel a blog is starting to get "off message," I simply delete it.
I've never had anyone ask me why they were deleted. They know that I am listing blogs that are strongly faith-focused. Because I keep a few of them in my personal bookmarks, sometimes I list them again when they get back on track.
Is it up to me to judge? Yes, if it's my name on the blog; and yes if the blog is becoming too political, or too philosophical. (Or too liberal.)
I think you should do the same. If you get reports back that someone is using the blog to promote things you don't agree with, then it's your blog and as you said, you don't want any young believer or new Christian to get confused or led astray.
Good Morning Angel,
I understand your dilemma, and my wife and I will pray for you while you make your decision. Perhaps you can do what Rev. Mike suggested, and allow individual blogs to be removed. I enjoy reading several of the other blogs that I have found through this effort, and to be honest, I probably would not have found them if it was not for this place. Like Ruth said, I don't get alot of comments on my blogs, but it does look like I get alot of visitors. Even though people may not leave comments, it does not mean that they are not reading the blog posts and getting the message. Just for the record Ruth, I enjoy your posts... :) Whatever you decide to do, I am sure that everyone will understand and support your decision. God Bless.
let us have a discussion on "forgiveness of sin". What does the bible say about it.
Ezekiel 18:19 Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
20The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
21But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
22All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
23Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
24But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
So we see clearly from the above that if we sin, it is on ourselves to repent. No man can save us from our sins. We are responsible for our own sins.
I'll pray for you..
God has a plan in your life, this is one of hardship that you feel and got. remember, God is needed to be involved in this situation.
God Bless you
I'm new to Christianity/belief in God in general, but..I do know that everyone interprets God's "law" differently, and that censorship is always a bad idea.
Let everyone express how they believe, or else the religion will lose dimensions, become narrow instead of the all-encompassing faith of love that it is.
Times are changing and the "rules" of religions tend to change with them as the world faces new issues.
We may interpret truth differently, but I think that that's very important. I enjoy reading all different viewpoints on God, even if they have nothing to do with the things I believe in, because they help me understand God more..through his people. I would never have reached the conclusion of Christianity if I hadn't strayed very far from what I used to believe, listened to people who I used to dismiss as wrong or just plain crazy!
What I'm saying is..
Christianity shouldn't judge.
I vote you keep all the blogs up. :)
Peace.
I am new to Christian bloggers therefore I really haven't had time to look at the blogs on the blogroll.
I understand your dilemma and feel for you; "young believers" may easily be confused by the opinions of another which is why it is so important that we all look to the Bible to be our authority. Yes, many people have opinions but it is in God's word that we find truth.
The theme of my blog is based on Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall make your paths straight." I am praying this for you!
blessings.

I wouldn't close it down. But I would add a disclaimer that other blogs don't necessarily represent the views of Chrstian Bloggers...I would encourage people to read/study other blogs as they would eat fish...watch out for the bones!

I don't want to see you close this blog down.It is a great place for Christians to communicate. You need to leave it in the hands of God.
God bless you; and, keep up the great work and writing! Please check out my blog-site because I want to hear your opinion about my latest Topic #13-"They would not have crucified the Lord of glory." Be sure to read all the preceding topics, as well, in order to gain the complete picture.
I hope you have second thought about keeping your blog running.I hope that you prayed about it to God.
Hope you make a decision that leaves you at peace. It's a tough call - and we do feel responsible. This blogroll has been a blessing so thanks heaps for it!!
Blessings
Pip
What a challenge this must be for you. You have 80-90 blogs on your list maybe more. That's hard to police.
I agree that your first line of defense is a disclaimer and a way for folks to contact you with their concerns. I have included one on the CBB on my site.
I see this a little like tithing to my church; I can only control how I respond to what I know God expects from me. After that, I have to trust that my brothers and sisters will do the same.
On a practical note, perhaps those of us who have concerns could help you by spending a little time looking through those links.
Maybe if someone reports a problem (or a particularly wonderful site), you could ask the community to review the site and try to get a consensus.
Finally, know that God knows you are doing the best you can and He appreciates and will bless your efforts.
through this blogroll - I have found some wonderful connections but I understand your dilemma. Praying too for wisdom and guidence for you
